Ayan Acharyya was born in a small town in Nadia, West Bengal, where his journey into the world of creativity began. From a young age, he was immersed in a dreamy, imaginative childhood filled with curiosity and a deep love for the arts. He was drawn to everything creative, building electronics, sketching vivid worlds, playing the guitar, and exploring the limitless universes of literature and video games.
As a school student, Ayan’s passion extended into hands-on projects in robotics and electronics. He was also the lead guitarist of a rock band and won numerous awards in drawing competitions. His early interests formed the foundation for a life shaped by creativity, expression, and experimentation.
Driven by a growing fascination with visual storytelling, Ayan studied animation and design for three years. This training launched his professional career, taking him across India where he worked with several respected studios and companies. He gained industry experience at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, Technicolor and Gameberry Labs in Bangalore, Aptech in Kolkata, and Media Factory in Mumbai, among many others. These experiences gave him a deep understanding of animation, motion graphics, and visual design across different regional markets and production environments.
Eventually, Ayan returned to Kolkata with a bigger vision and founded Applita, a creative studio that started by collaborating with clients in Canada and soon expanded its global reach to the USA, UK, Australia, Norway, and beyond. Under Ayan’s leadership, Applita evolved into a full-fledged creative powerhouse offering services in motion graphics, animation, 2D and 3D design, branding, marketing, product visualization, TV commercials, 3D rendering, and visual effects.
Alongside building the business, Ayan began a deep exploration of filmmaking. He spent seven years learning the craft under the remote mentorship of experienced filmmakers from the US and UK. This journey led him to establish a new wing within Applita, focused solely on independent filmmaking. Unlike traditional production houses, this division does not chase box office numbers or commercial formulas. Its mission is to create technically bold, emotionally rich, and globally relevant indie films for OTT platforms and international festivals. Applita’s film division is rooted in artistic integrity, not industry competition.
Today, Ayan continues to live in Kolkata, still deeply connected to his roots in Nadia. He is not part of the corporate race. Instead, he chooses a path of continuous learning, exploring new software, techniques, and creative tools, and mentoring his team to grow with the same hunger for innovation and excellence.
